Napa Valley/ Sonoma Trip

In 42 days I will be embarking on a wine country adventure with my mother. For Christmas we gifted her a vacation in California wine country as she is an avid wine drinker and has never been to California. For that matter neither have I. So it seemed like the perfect opportunity. I am a planner by nature and have already started mapping out an itinerary. I rented us a nice little house in Glen Ellen through VRBO (seriously who stays in hotels anymore?) and we will have a car so I hope to cover a lot of ground. I’m still very open to suggestions though as it is a bit overwhelming, there are so many wineries! Here are a few of the things I have planned so far.

Napa Valley Wine Train

Okay so I admit this is probably an overpriced tourist trap but honestly it just sounded like so much fun, and like something my mother would really enjoy. We are doing the Vista Dome lunch so I’m keeping my fingers crossed for beautiful weather so we can see as much of Napa Valley as we can while enjoying our 3 course lunch. And wine of course.

I mean how could we not stop here? A beautiful chateau and bubbly? I have reservations for wine and cheese tasting and again I’m keeping my fingers crossed for gorgeous weather so we can dine on the terrace.

This one I would like to go to because I actually am familiar with their wine and quite enjoy it.

Okay that’s all I have so far. I would really like to spend a day on the coast, it’s only about a 50 minute drive from where we’re staying. So if weather permitting we will likely do that. Again I’m open to all suggestions so please share them!

  1. I have never been to Napa Valley so I am of no help! But since you are such a planner, I am sure you’ll have a great time regardless of whether you get expert input. This sounds like an amazing trip! How many days are you going for? We do a girls trip in my family every other October and I really want to go to Napa sometime as I think we’d have a blast! But our trips are usually Wed evening – Sunday and I don’t know if that is enough time to do it right? But I guess 3-4 days is better than not going at all!

We have the same countdown going on since your trip is over my wedding weekend!!!!!
